The luxury lighting industry is one that thrives on innovation and creation. Whether brands and designers are working on traditional inspirations or cutting edge creations, every new innovation is created to push the industry forwards.
Innovation in the luxury lighting industry can take a seemingly endless list of forms. Some push towards green energy and ethical production methods. Other individuals are focused on advancing the production processes themselves. Some focus on the most striking and pleasing new designs. Whatever the aim of the individual, every creation is constructed to offer something new.
Every year the Lighting Design Awards celebrates this continued innovation. One such way they do this is by naming an annual 40 Under 40 list. Compiling the names of 40 individuals under 40 who are offering the promise of innovation to the luxury lighting industry, the 40 under 40 list a celebration of all innovations – and their innovators – new.
The names that make up the 40 Under 40 list for 2018 have now been announced, ahead of the Lighting Design Awards ceremony which is set to take place next month. The full list of these names, and the studios they work with, can be found on the Lighting Design Awards website.
The chairman of the 40 Under 40 international selection panel, Ray Molony, had this to say of this year’s list of selections: “The achievements of these outstanding young people – be they creative, academic or philanthropic – are phenomenal and the selection panel were incredibly impressed. This year’s cohort are truly outstanding and it is set to make a huge contribution. This industry is in safe hands for the future.”
The 40 Under 40 – in association with the global lighting brand Osram – was first established in 2016 to celebrate 40 years of the Lighting Design Awards and to create a mechanism so that the lighting industry could recognise and celebrate its emerging talent.
