One of the most prestigious events on the luxury lighting calendar, this year’s Lighting Design Awards is set to be an event unlike any other. Having announced the introduction of live judging, and invited their audiences to partake, the event have also announced the keynote speaker for this year’s ceremony.
James Carpenter is a top US architect who’s considered to be the world’s leading pioneer in working with daylight. Having worked on projects such as the multi award winning Sky Reflector Net at the Fulton Center and design work on The 7 World Trade Center, Carpenter’s accolades speak for themselves.
Carpenter will open the Lighting Design Awards’ 42nd award ceremony on Thursday 3rd May. In his special keynote speech he will share the insights he has gained from the intersection between art, engineering, and architecture.
The presentations ceremony will be introduced by the editor of Lighting magazine Jill Entwistle, while the host for the duration of the evening will be TV comedian Mark Watson. The night will also see the 40under40 list of talented lighting designers being revealed. An official after-show party – complete with top bands – follows into the early hours.
