In partnership with the Institution Of Lighting Professionals alongside the Society Of Light And Lighting, the Lighting Design Awards is an established calendar highlight for luxury lighting professionals across the UK. Attended by nearing 1000 people each year, the ceremony is a celebration of the boldest and most innovative work across the lighting industry for everyone from designers, through manufacturers, to clients.
With a rigorous judging process involved, the Lighting Design Awards has maintained a reputation as one of the most prestigious events of its kind. All the projects entered are examined by a distinguished group of lighting experts, and every project shortlisted for an award is visited so that the reality of each instillation can be judged.
For 2018 a new ‘supercategory’ is being introduced in the Lighting Design Awards. The Global Project of the Year will be a supercategory, in which the shortlist is selected from all entries to all nine project categories.
This new category has been designed to reward a scheme of outstanding creativity, high ambition and world-class execution.
“In the past it wasn’t always possible for the judging team to signal a project of true exceptionalism,” said Ray Molony, chairman of the judging panel. ‘The Global Project of the Year allows us to do just that in 2018.”
“Whoever wins this in its augural year will justifiably be able to claim a work of a world-beating standard,” he continued. Finalists in the Global Project of the Year will be assessed and critiqued by the team of eminent judges.
The winners will be announced at the prestigious black-tie presentations ceremony at the flagship London Hilton on Park Lane on Thursday 3 May 2018 before a 800-strong audience of lighting designers and architects.
