The Lighting Design Awards is an event unlike any other. Celebrating the latest and indeed the greatest in luxury lighting design, this annual event brings together some of the boldest, some of the brightest, and some of the most revered names across the luxury lighting and design industries. In partnership with the Institution Of Lighting Professionals alongside the Society Of Light And Lighting, the event is an established calendar highlight for luxury lighting professionals across the UK. Attended by nearing 1000 people each year, the ceremony is a celebration of the boldest and most innovative work across the lighting industry for everyone from designers, through manufacturers, to clients. With a rigorous judging process involved, the Lighting Design Awards has maintained a reputation as one of the most prestigious events of its kind. All the projects entered are examined by a distinguished group of lighting experts, and every project shortlisted for an award is visited so that the reality of each instillation can be judged. The ceremony for 2018 took place in London last night. A celebration of all things bright, brilliant, and forwards thinking in the luxury lighting industry, the night saw projects, designs, companies, and creators from across the world be awarded for their contributions to lighting design. Projects from eighteen countries – including Korea, India, Australia, Norway, Sweden, the US, the UK, France, Spain, Germany, the UAE, Switzerland, Greece, and more besides – were recognised and rewarded at the forty-second Lighting Design Awards in London last night. The ceremony was a glamorous black tie event that took place at London Hilton Park Lane. Hosted by comedian Mark Watson, and attended by over 700 designers, architects, and suppliers, this year's Lighting Design Awards was a night to remember. Among the winners was Flos collaborator and designer Michael Anastassiades, who was named as product designer of the year. Commenting on his iconic creations, the Lighting Design Awards judges stated that the past few years have seen the Cypriot designer produce a string of instant lighting classics, and that his work continues to be celebrated as artistic and commercial successes. Such a win for Michael Anastassiades, and indeed for Flos, serves to highlight the brand's continued mission and excellence when it comes to collaborating on designs and products with some of the most iconic names in luxury lighting design. This is just one way in which Flos Lighting have cemented their position as market leaders. Theirs is a true passion, drawing together likeminded individuals who share that true passion, in order to bring to life designs that you can truly be passionate about. Of course, the night was about more than just the winners. The night saw professionals from all across the industry come together to celebrate not only each other, but the future of where their industry is heading. The remainder of the winners, along with details of each design, designer, project, and company that were named as winners this year, alongside lists of all of those nominated can be found on the Lighting Design Awards website.
